This simulation is intended to help you develop fundamental skills and confidence when communicating with a pediatric patient. The scenario will allow you to make critical decisions about appropriate communication when interacting with a pediatric patient.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Describe effective therapeutic communication strategies when assessing and providing treatment to a pediatric patient.
  2. Adapt communication strategies to meet the pediatric patient’s level of understanding and emotional state.
  3. Identify distractions that could influence effective communication with a pediatric patient.

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

Evalution/Validation:

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
