In this scenario, you will care for an adult patient who requires initiation of mechanical ventilation and then continue to provide ongoing maintenance of mechanical ventilation including patient assessment, blood gases, chest x-rays, and ventilator waveforms. This scenario is designed for Respiratory Therapists.
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this simulation, you will be able to:
-
Communicate, interact with and manage an intubated patient
-
Initiate mechanical ventilation
-
Maintain and optimization mechanical ventilation.
-
Analyze and interpret blood gases, waveforms and chest x-rays
Simulation Modality:
Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patientEvalution/Validation:
This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
