62-year-old male who is admitted to emergency experiencing SOB and increasing crackles on auscultation, and is also a smoker. He wears glasses and has a hearing aid but refuses to use it. He speaks Arabic and limited English but his son is willing to translate and also says that his dad does not want hospital food.

Learning Objectives:

Perform a focused respiratory assessment recognizing abnormal assessment findings

Administer and titrate oxygen accurately, using the correct dose and oxygen delivery system

Interpret accurately blood gas results and notes abnormal lab values

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

Evalution/Validation:

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
