This game promotes the application of knowledge required to receive patient samples in a clinical laboratory. Appropriate sample receipt is necessary for best patient results. Communicating to other healthcare professionals is imperative to interprofessional relationships and adequate patient care.

Learning Objectives:

Assess the quality of samples received in the laboratory.

Identify corrective action for pre-analytical errors.

Initiate corrective action for pre-analytical errors.

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

Evalution/Validation:

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
