78-year-old female patient is on day 2 post-op on the surgery floor. The patient refuses to ambulate postoperatively and develops a deep vein thrombosis in her right calf. Today she came to the ER and patient reports being short of breath and that her breathing is very ‘fast’

Learning Objectives:

Perform a focused post operative assessment

Identify priorities in the management of respiratory distress.

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

Evalution/Validation:

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
