This scenario will follow the nurse’s responsibilities in an adult prepating for surgery; from the preoperative assessment to the arrival at the surgical suite.

Learning Objectives:

Integrates knowledge and client information from multiple sources to complete a preoperative assessment.

Integrates teaching into client-centered care to reinforce post-operative knowledge.

Communicates priority concerns with the inter-professional team identified during a preoperative assessment to improve outcomes and ensure patient safety.

Adheres to legal and ethical standards/practices during a preoperative client assessment to protect the client’s rights
