A 10 year old female who is accompanied by her mother is presenting to the ER with complaints of abdominal pain for the past week,which has increased in intensity to 7/10 in the past 24 hours.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Demonstrate collection of an abdominal history with a pediatric patient and family to accurately assess the patient’s condition.
  2. Demonstrate an abdominal physical assessment of a pediatric patient to accurately assess the patient’s condition.
  3. Communicate priority information to the healthcare team to provide competent care and enhance patient outcomes.
  4. Demonstrate effective therapeutic communication techniques with the pediatric patient and family to provide competent care.
