This simulation involves a crime, a crime scene investigation, suspect DNA obtainment, and PCR testing of the Crime scene DNA and suspect DNA samples.

Warning: This molecular technique simulation described a deceased person and crime scene investigation.

Learning Objectives:

Review basic molecular techniques used to test DNA samples.

Follow a Standard operating procedure document to analyze DNA samples.

Answer questions regarding PCR reagents, techniques and hazards.

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

Evalution/Validation:

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
