This virtual simulation game focuses on a virtual healthcare encounter between a nurse or nurse practitioner working in primary care. The intended learners are undergraduate nursing students (year 3 or 4) and nurse practitioner students. This learning experience incorporates the CASE Method, a framework that health care providers can use to guide conversations with parents who are vaccine hesitant regarding immunizations for their children.

Learning Objectives:

Determine individual factors that underlie vaccine hesitancy to identify appropriate interventions

Listen in a non-judgemental manner to a vaccine hesitant client to promote effective communication

Appraise the accuracy of client concerns related to vaccine hesitancy to promote evidence-informed practice

Respond to client concerns in a culturally safe way to establish respectful nurse-client engagement

Assess client readiness for education during a clinic visit to encourage client receptiveness to learning

Apply the CASE method to client education to encourage informed decision making

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient
