This virtual simulation game focuses on communication with a patient with different priorities. It identifies abnormal assessment data through analyzing relevant objective and subjective data to prioritize nursing interventions. This learning experience incorporates a CARE Steps model in order to foster effective mutual goal setting with a client. The learner will take on the role of a nurse to treat a 35 y/o white female patient who resides in a rural community with family history of cardiovascular disease.

Learning Objectives:

Identifies abnormal assessment data through analyzing relevant objective and subjective data to prioritize nursing interventions.

Performs a general survey, measurement, and vital signs during the initial patient encounter to determine the focus for assessment.

Engages in effective therapeutic communication technique(s) during interactions with the client to gather pertinent information.

Implements successful conflict resolution strategies using the CARE Steps model in order to foster effective mutual goal setting with client.

Identifies and implements appropriate nursing actions/interventions/treatments in response to focused assessment to maximize health outcomes.
