You will be meeting the patient after their total right knee arthroplasty (total right knee replacement). This gaming simulation will offer the learner an opportunity to develop critical thinking, decision making and assessment skills when determining care in a post-operative environment.

Learning Objectives:

Apply knowledge based on physical and psychosocial assessment of a patient, in both the acute and community health care setting.

Identify normal findings, abnormal variations and potential complications of a patient as they move through various health care settings.

Prioritize care based on recognition and analysis of data cues.

Describe key elements of a comprehensive safety assessment involved in medication reconciliation and the use of accepted abbreviations.

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
