This scenario will help users recognize suicidal risk factors in those who are most vulnerable. Throughout the simulation you will be given opportunities to observe the patient environment, process how you would like to respond, identify suicidal risk factors, and reflect on what you have learned.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Recognize what behaviours to look for in persons with suicidal ideation.
  2. Recognize Risk Factors of suicide.
  3. Deliver the appropriate responses using an empathic approach.
  4. Understand and suggest resources for patients at risk.

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

Evalution/Validation:

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
