Interventional radiology: a port insertion for chemotherapy treatment
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the pre and post procedural care of a patient experiencing an Interventional Radiology Portacath insertion for chemotherapy treatments.
- Demonstrate appropriate nursing and collaborative interventions to manage post procedure care of a patient experiencing an interventional radiological procedure.
- Recognize the collaboration between members of the Interdisciplinary team members involved in the patient preparation and pre/ intra/ post procedural care.
- Demonstrate evidenced based patient education to a patient experiencing an interventional radiology procedure including pre/intra/post procedural care.

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
