During this virtual simulation you will have the opportunity to meet and provide nursing care for the patient.The patient is a 82 year old woman who resides at Shady Oaks Long-term Care Home.

Learning Objectives:

Identify abnormal vital sign measurements.

Utilize principles of therapeutic communication with a resident.
Utilize de-escalating techniques for a resident experiencing agitation.

Identify the need to consult with the clinical instructor to debrief following a clinical situation.

Modify the nursing care plan as appropriate to reflect current care priorities.

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

Evalution/Validation:

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
