In this scenario, EMS must respond to a call for a person who is having a seizure. The patient has a history of alcohol and drug use complicating the emergency. In this scenario, we will be using a virtual patient to explore neurological issues using assessment and treatment. The case will work best for you if you treat this virtual patient as you would a real patient. The questions in this scenario will help you prioritize your assessment and interventions with patients.
Learning Objectives:
-
Identify and prioritize your assessment and interventions for a seizing patient.
-
Articulate the desired outcomes for the patient.
-
Practice your communication skills.
Simulation Modality:
Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patientEvalution/Validation:
This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
