MacEwan University | Faculty of Nursing | Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health
OPPORTUNITY
MacEwan University has a long-standing history of providing quality nursing education that prepares graduates to lead and succeed in nursing practice and beyond. As a place-based institution, faculty are involved in crafting engaged learning environments that help students achieve their full potential through innovative learning modalities that emphasize the importance of connection. The Faculty of Nursing is organized into five departments. Courses delivered within each of these departments are affiliated with the Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Bachelor of Psychiatric Nursing, Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing and other continuing education credentials and learning experiences.
The Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health in the Faculty of Nursing invites applications for a full-time Laboratory (lab) Supervisor commencing July 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval.
The Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health houses various continuing education programs as well as the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC). The CSC features 27,000 square feet of authentic clinical space that sets the stage for students to engage in simulated immersive clinical experiences in a supportive and collaborative learning environment. This department delivers courses to meet professional nursing learning needs focused on occupational health, learning to support a link to Canadian nursing and perioperative nursing practice.
The lab supervisor provides critical support to lab learning within our Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) and is an active team member, collaborating with other lab supervisors, faculty, and staff. The lab supervisor works closely with faculty across programs to design, integrate, deploy, and evaluate multimodal simulation and lab-based learning, as well as may be involved in the provision of faculty development specific to teaching in the lab setting. The lab supervisors’ role is to enhance student learning through innovative teaching practices and to facilitate effective organization of labs across programs.
Candidates must hold an undergraduate degree in nursing and a graduate degree in nursing (or a related field). The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of post-secondary clinical or lab teaching experience. Certification or formal training in simulation education would be an asset, along with experience teaching various nursing education courses using varied approaches to creating effective learning experiences. Candidates should have experience and an ability to design lab and/or simulation-based learning experiences grounded in simulation best practice standards. A proven track record of working in a future-focused environment with frequent change is an asset. The successful candidate must hold an active, unencumbered nursing license with the relevant nursing regulatory body.
Applicants should submit a cover letter and curriculum vitae. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the Department Chair to provide further information such as a teaching dossier (including recent teaching evaluations), three (3) letters of reference sent directly from referees and copies of official transcripts sent directly from the institutions where they completed their degrees.
