The goal of this simulation is to enhance learners’ awareness and comfort in performing the Suicide assessment utilizing Suicide Assessment Five-Step Evaluation and Triage (SAFE-T) Protocol with C-SSRS (Columbia Risk and Protective Factors) – Recent. Further, learners will be able to competently identify warning signs and risk factors of suicide, individual protective factors. It will also demonstrate prioritized safe care utilizing therapeutic communication with client and healthcare team members

Learning Objectives:

Perform a mental health assessment and risk assessment using SAFE-T Protocol with C-SSRS (Columbia Risk and Protective Factors) – Recent

Identify the components of suicide assessment, warning signs and protective factors

Identify and communicate concerns for client well being to appropriate healthcare team members

Identify priority nursing interventions to ensure patient safety

Develop and implement a safe plan of care for a patient who is suicidal

Simulation Modality:

Virtual gaming simulation / virtual patient

Evalution/Validation:

This simulation’s scenario and script were formally peer-reviewed by two external institutions, then the final simulation was pilot tested by several students on a student testing committee then as part of the Virtu-WIL Student Program’s rollout.
