The Faculty of Nursing at the University of Windsor houses a computer lab, a nursing skills lab, a simulation lab and a practice lab. We expanded our facilities in the Fall of 2012 to include a health assessment lab, two primary care rooms, a palliative simulation suite and a second simulation facility replicating an acute care setting, including a clean utility room and private viewing and control room.
The Faculty of Nursing integrates simulation throughout our nursing programs with appropriate simulation experiences. Our focus is on providing the learner with an opportunity to engage in “real-life” experiences in the safety of the simulation setting. These experiences allow us educators to close the gap between research and practice by utilizing current evidence-based guidelines in our scenarios. Armed with this knowledge gained through simulated experiences, students can safely care for patients in the clinical arena without placing patients in jeopardy.
