The Centre for Advanced Medical Simulation (CAMS), part of the School of Health and Life Sciences at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), provides simulation-based education to over 20 NAIT programs, primarily in health and life sciences, though all areas of the institute can access our facilities. Through immersive, hands-on experiences, we enhance clinical skills, strengthen interprofessional collaboration, and bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world healthcare practice.
CAMS delivers a robust Interprofessional Education (IPE) program that brings together learners from multiple disciplines. Patient partners play a vital role, sharing lived experiences to build empathy, communication, and patient-centered care skills.
Beyond academics, we collaborate with industry, government, and uniformed personnel to offer custom training, applied research, and health innovation support. Tailored sessions address specific learning objectives, simulate high-risk scenarios, and advance healthcare practice.
Our team, Simulation Technologists, Research Associates, Biomedical Technologists, and the Associate Chair of Simulation and IPE, works with our partners to ensure activities reflect best practices in healthcare simulation, education, and research. Agile and partnership-driven, CAMS is a trusted innovation partner, offering a safe testing ground for health-tech startups and scaleups to validate products, refine processes, and connect with researchers, experts, and the broader innovation network.
