Opportunity

The Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health in the Faculty of Nursing invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Lab Supervisor appointment, commencing July 1, 2025, subject to final budgetary approval.

The Department of Professional Nursing and Allied Health houses various continuing education nursing programs and offers nurses and healthcare professionals the opportunity to expand their knowledge and expertise, specifically in the areas of occupational health, bridge to Canadian nursing, and perioperative nursing practice. Faculty in this Department are committed to ensuring students gain important knowledge and experience in areas of applied practice that advance their capabilities as leaders in the health care system.

In this role, you will teach and facilitate planning of lab related experiences across nursing programs and academic departments and will provide critical academic and administrative leadership specific to enabling excellent lab learning across various spaces, including the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC). As an active team member, you will apply innovative teaching practices and collaborate with faculty and staff to design, integrate, deploy, and facilitate multimodal simulation and lab -based learning across the Faculty of Nursing. Through effective teaching and coordination of labs across programs and Departments, you will connect key knowledge with lab learning and current nursing practice.

You will hold an undergraduate baccalaureate degree in nursing and a graduate degree in nursing or a related field, with at least 3 years of teaching experience in a nursing lab setting, specific to undergraduate nursing education, along with aligned experience with low-to-high fidelity simulation and immersive learning. You will also have demonstrated proficiency using multiple teaching methods to create effective learning experiences and have experience with designing lab and simulation-based learning experiences grounded in best practice standards. Certification or formal training in simulation education would be an asset, along with a passion for teaching a variety of nursing education courses. A proven track record of working in a future-focused environment with frequent change is considered an asset.

Unencumbered licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nursing of Alberta (CRPNA) and/or the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) is required in this role.
