Patient is a 20-year-old male meeting with the community mental health nurse during an initial online appointment. The patient has become increasingly withdrawn at school during the past semester and subsequently was required to withdraw from the program.
Objectifs d'apprentissage:
1. Identify the signs and symptoms of schizophrenia during a nursing assessment to determine appropriate treatment options and referrals
2. Complete a mental health screening assessment for a patient exhibiting psychotic symptoms to determine priority patient needs.
3. Identify and utilize appropriate therapeutic communication techniques for a patient with impaired thought processing to ensure patient safety.
4. Utilize therapeutic communication techniques with family members to ensure family-centred care.
