The patient, 79 years old, was hospitalized with a fractured right hip. They underwent surgery two days ago. The patient has a history of hypertension, cognitive impairment and myopia (wears glasses). Although they were diagnosed with mild dementia six months ago, they are able to manage well at home, where the patient resides with their partner. At the beginning of her shift, the day nurse reviews the patient’s history and goes to her beside to check on her general condition and plan future interventions.
